Ready to make money from your blog? Here’s how to do it.
How to Create Your Blogging Business Plan
It’s Day 3, and you are doing great. Now that you have set up your blog, it’s time to start thinking about how you will make money with your blog. There are many great ways to do this, and many of these ideas are “passive,” meaning you do the work once and keep making money over and over again. The best part is that you don’t have to choose just one. All of these ideas can work for almost any blog. Keep reading to find out what the best revenue streams are for your business.

Step 1-Figure Out How You Make Money.
The first step to monetizing your blog is to figure out what you will sell and how. There are endless ways to make money with your blog, but here are some of the most popular.
Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing is one of the most popular ways to make money from blogging because it’s applicable to every niche. Basically, you find products and services that your target audience needs or wants. Then you see if the company that offers them has an affiliate program. Some of my favorite affiliate programs include:
These are just a few of the best affiliate programs out there, but about 86% of companies have affiliate programs.
Sell Your Own Products and Services
Blogs aren’t just for, well, blogs. Every business can benefit from having a blog, no matter what you sell or do. You can create digital products, offer online courses, do coaching, or sell any service from plumbing to beauty-related services to legal services. No matter what you sell, a blog will attract more people to your business. You can use your blog to promote them and sell them using Stan Store. Here are some things you can sell in Stan Store.
- Digital products, courses, and subscriptions
- Services such as writing, coaching, or any other service
- Your own print-on-demand gifts, such as t-shirts and mugs
- Crafts & other handmade goods
I love Stan because you can create courses and subscriptions right in the app by just uploading your modules. Plus, there are zero transaction fees.
Running Ads
This is what most people think of when they think about making money with blogs, though it’s not necessarily the best way. Basically, you can run ads for each individual company, or you can sign up with a service like Google ads. Every time someone clicks on the ad, you’ll get paid a few cents. The benefit of running ads is that, typically, you’ll get paid per click. The downfall is that it’s usually a small amount, meaning you’ll need a ton of traffic to make a decent income. It will also pull people away from your content, and they might forget to come back. Ads also tend to look messy. So this isn’t usually the best way unless you get a ton of traffic.
Sponsored Posts
When you do a sponsored post, a brand will pay you to write a post that advertises its services or products. You’ll have to disclose that it’s a sponsored post, but it can be a great way to add another revenue source to your blog.
Step 2-Set Up Your Products and Offers
The next step is to actually set up your revenue streams and your content plan so you can begin making money. This can include:
Applying for Affiliate Links
Go back to the list of companies that offer the products and services you want to sell and check out their affiliate programs for their requirements. It’s usually a good idea to have about ten blog posts written before applying for affiliate links, though some companies have different requirements than others. If you get rejected, don’t worry! You can always apply again in a few months!
Creating Your First Product
This can be as simple as making a printable or designing a print-on-demand mug or something more labor-intensive. If you want to design something, be sure to check out Canva for its easy-to-use services. It’s ok to try something small at first to get your feet wet. Digital and print-on-demand products can be created in as little as fifteen minutes.
Set Up Your Stan Store
If you are selling your own products or even other people’s products, you will need a way to accept payments. To set up a Stan Store, all you have to do is log in and start adding products. Then you can add your Stan Store links to your blog posts.
So there you have it–three easy steps to making money with your blog. Which one do you plan on trying? Drop a comment below, or move on to Day 4!
